The three labour codes, i.e., the Code on Social Security, 2020, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 have received the President’s assent on September 28, 2020 and have been published in the Official Gazette on September 29, 2020. The Government of India have also fast-tracked the process of their implementation.
With these codes (i) bringing an significant overhaul in the Indian labour laws; and (ii) having an impact on every industry, corporate and institution, the codes have attracted significant attention and interest from the industry. With the industries gearing up to transition to another this legal overhaul in the labour industry, the role of lawyers becomes paramount in this process.
